Description
Explore the Cancún Underwater Museum that has received international recognition!
At the beginning of 2008, Jaime Gonzalez Canto and Jason deCaires Taylor began to create the plans for an underwater museum as the impact of the human being on natural reefs combined with natural forces such as Hurricane Wilma, that made the future of marine life in Cancun and Isla Mujeres threatened.
For the creation of the pieces, a british artist and other five mexican artists were hired. Today, MUSA has more than 500 permanently submerged sculptures, which makes it the most attractive underwater museum of art in the world. The total of the collection occupies an area of more than 420 square meters and weighs more than 200 tons.
Once you are enjoying this experience, you will be able to realize the coexistence between art and environmental sciences, since with the passage of time, marine life finds refuge in these pieces. The generation of this life, turns the pieces of the museum into a set of artificial reefs. The sculptures are fixed to the bottom of the sea and are made of special marine concrete that facilitates the creation of corals on its surface.
After this adventure, you will go to one of the most famous reefs in Cancun, where you can keep enjoying this paradisiacal place.
