Description
Cenote Carwash: This cenote owes its name to what used to be used as a taxi carwash, as impressive as it may sound. As a result of that they called it Cenote Carwash but it also receives the name of Aktun Ha.
It is located 5 miles from Tulum. It has an area of more than 50 meters (150 feet) wide with an average depth of 10 Ft, although to enter its caverns we descend to 60 Ft, in them you can discover formations of stalactites. Access to water is very simple.
It is a cenote full of life, inside you can find different species of fish, turtles and many aquatic plants that give a unique landscape. On the surface, during the summer, it forms a layer of algae that seems to be like a cloud, which gives the experience more emotion. You can also see how the roots of trees fall making it more captivating and the light that passes through the layer creates an unprecedented event forming different nuances, no doubt it is a place that you should know.
Cenote Calavera (Skull): Located in Tulum, it owes its name to the fact that a human skull can be seen in the bottom, although it is also related to the 3 holes in its dome and simulate the face of a skull. It is located in the jungle so you will have to walk approximately 300 Ft to find this semi-open cenote.
When you reach its mouth you can access it in two ways, either by taking a leap or going down by a vertical ladder, either in one way or another the end will be the same! Enjoy its crystalline and fresh waters!
While you swim, you will be able to see how the light passes through the holes making a wonderful light effect.
