Description
Chac Mool is a large cenote with lots of light, unbeatable for a first dive in cenotes. The views are impressive and the sunlight entering through the cave gives us a formidable light game.
This wonder of nature is one of the best known Mexican cenotes for diving because of its excellent visibility and and fascinating caverns. It is located in Quintana Roo at 14 miles south of Playa del Carmen. Known locally as the "Jaguar Claw" it has a maximum depth of 14 meters / 45 feet and an average temperature of 25 °C.
Kukulkan is one of the best cenotes thanks to the effects of sunlight. It has an open area of 10 meters / 33 feet where a long sunbeam penetrates, and the perspective of this open area, is simply phenomenal!
You will descend in fresh water enjoying the effects of light, and then enter the cavern directly to the halocline. Then you can appreciate the cavern that is made of pure white limestone and shines when the lamp of a diver illuminates it. You can see several fossils in the stone.
In this slow, multilevel and easy dive you can admire many small quartz crystals embedded in all the walls.
These two dives are really perfect for taking photos and for beginners!
